DAY TO DAY ITINERARY:

Day 1 – WINDHOEK
Arrival in Windhoek, collection of hire vehicle, see the city or just relax after the long flight.
Day 2 – OKONJIMA
Your journey heads north to Okonjima, home of the Africat Foundation. Learn more about conservation efforts in Namibia.
Day 3 – CENTRAL ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
After the morning activities (if desired), continue further north to the Andersson Gate in the central area of the Etosha National Park.
Day 4 & 5 – EASTERN ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
Continue through the central to eastern part of Etosha National Park from Andersson to Von Lindequist Gates. Plan stops along the way at the popular waterholes and Halali Restcamp. There are quite a few good waterholes around the Namutoni area where you have a good chance of seeing a large amount of game. We recommend an early morning drive for possible predator sightings.
Day 6 – RUNDU
Travel either via Tsintsabis or Tsumeb & Grootfontein to Rundu on the northern border of Namibia. Options for fishing and cruises on the Okavango River, and cultural tours when available.
Day 7 – MAHANGU NATIONAL PARK
Now the journey heads east into the Caprivi Strip. Enjoy a game drive in the small but game-rich Mahango Park and/or in the Buffalo Park – both part of the Bwabwata National Park, and/or a boat cruise on the Okavango River.
Day 8 & 9  –KWANDO & NKASA RUPARA NATIONAL PARK
A short distance further east and you reach the floodplains of the Kwando River which changes name just over the Botswana border to Linyanti River, and then later to Chobe River. A highlight in the Kwando River area is a visit to the Horseshoe Bend. Game drives in the Nkasa Rupara National Park and boat cruises on the Kwando River are also recommended.
Day 10 -12 – KASANE, CHOBE NATIONAL PARK & VIC FALLS DAY VISIT
The journey continues via Katima Mulilo and Ngoma Bridge border post to Kasane in Botswana, situated on the well-known floodplains of the Chobe River. Your hire vehicle will be collected here. Game drives into the Chobe National Park as well as boat cruises morning or afternoon are highly recommended – nowhere else in Africa will you see so many different animals and birds. Known as well for huge herds of elephants.  A pre-arranged shuttle can take you across the Botswana-Zimbabwe border for a day visit of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Visit the gigantic falls, called “Mosi-oa-Tunya” by the local people – “the smoke that thunders”. Return to Kasane in the afternoon.
Day 13 – NATA
Continue via tar road to Nata. Visit the famous Nata Bird Sanctuary. Enjoy a quad-bike tour or nature drive in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.
Day 14 & 15 – BOTETI
Continue onwards towards Maun to Motopi then south past the village of Khumaga to the Boteti River on the western side of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The drive along the edge of the Boteti River is an amazing experience. You will see elephants, zebra, giraffes, hippopotami, and many other animals up close. A small paradise much quieter in terms of traffic compared to the Chobe floodplains.
Day 16 & 17 – KHWAI
The journey travels via Maun to Khwai Village on the northern shore of Khwai River. You will overnight just outside the Moremi National Park. We recommend a game drive in afternoon in this amazing area – one of Dieter’s personal favorites. Enjoy game drives into the Khwai Concession. Or a day excursion into Moremi National Park to Xakanaxa and Dombo Hippo Pool. Another exciting option is a guided night game drive in the Khwai concession.
Day 18 – MAUN
Another morning game drive, then the journey heads back south to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. You can book a scenic flight over the delta (departs hourly).
Day 19 – GHANZI OR NAMIBIAN BORDER
Today’s journey takes you via donkey “infested” tar roads to Ghanzi, another outpost of the San culture. Either overnight here if you are interested in learning more about the San or continue towards to the Namibian border post.
Day 20 – WINDHOEK OR GUESTFARM/LODGE NEAR HOSEA KUTAKO
Continues onwards to Windhoek for another overnight or departure. Or to a guest farm or lodge en route to Windhoek for one or more nights' relaxation at the end of this adventurous tour through Namibia and Botswana.
Day 21 – DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

DON'T FORGET:

  • This itinerary can also be offered as a privately guided tour

  • It can be offered as fully accommodated, camping, or a combination of both

  • We can tailor the tour to emphasize your particular interests, length of stay and planned budget
